The following clips are of the 2016 Monroe County Fair’s Hug-a-Pig contest. These clips  demonstrate blatant violation of the contest rules and are in violation of Wisconsin Crimes Against Animals statutes 951.01 which makes it a crime for any person to “treat any animal, whether belonging to the person or another, in a cruel manner.” This is not entertainment. This is animal abuse.

Clip 2 – After a long chase this pig is exhausted. After being tackled by all three contestants, she collapses, unable to get herself out of the barrel. The Hug-a-Pig rules state that: “absolutely no abuse, roughing or tackling of the pig will be tolerated.”

 

Clip 3 – Seen here is tackling, blatant leg holding, and abusive. After being asked to stop, one contestant couldn’t help but show his dominance toward the pig.

 

Clip 4 –  In this footage the pig is screaming, trying desperately to get away, in distress, and then is tackled by a very large man. The Hug-a-Pig rules state that: “absolutely no abuse, roughing or tackling of the pig will be tolerated.”

 

Clip 6 – This pig is desperately struggling and in fear. If this was a dog, there would be immediate criminal charges. Heartbreaking ending.

 

Clip 7 – The Hug-a-Pig rules state that: “absolutely no abuse, roughing or tackling of the pig will be tolerated.”

 

Clip 1 – This clip shows contestants grabbing the pig’s back legs. A contest violation that was overlooked. The Hug-a-Pig rules state that: “absolutely no abuse, roughing or tackling of the pig will be tolerated.”

  1. This is cruel to see. The pigs are surely squeeling out of fear. I don’t at all see how this is funny or entertainment.
